Lunch Buddies 🥙

This app helps build relationships between teammates by scheduling participants into random groups for lunch. The @lunch_buddies_bot takes care of all the logistics.

Getting Started

Step 1: Invite your teammates to the #lunch_buddies channel

The app works by polling the members of a Slack channel to see who is interested in participating. When you installed the app, a default #lunch_buddies channel was created. You should invite your teammates to this channel.

Step 2: Create the poll

To initiate the process, type the following message in the #lunch_buddies channel.

You can customize both the times of the poll and the size of the groups. Here are a few examples:

It is possible to have multiple polls going at the same time; they are uniquely defined by the channel from which they were created. For example, you could "create" a poll in the #seattle_office channel and also in the #san_francisco_office channel. Members of each channel will be independently polled and grouped.

Step 3: Respond to the poll

After receiving the create command, the bot will individually poll the members of the channel asking about participation.

Participants can select their time preference or opt out.

Step 4: Close the poll

Navigate back to the "#lunch_buddies" channel and type the following message:

The bot will randomly group people and start a group chat between all of them.

Data Retention Policy

Data is stored while Lunch Buddies is installed on your workspace. You can request the removal of your data at any time by making a request to support@lunchbuddiesapp.com.We collect and retain the minimum data necessary for the app to function.

Data Archiving and Removal Policy

If you would like to access your user data, please email support@lunchbuddiesapp.com and request it. We will send a copy of your data within 30 days from the date of the request.

You can submit a request to have your data deleted at any time after removing Lunch Buddies from your workspace. Send your request to support@lunchbuddiesapp.com and your data will be deleted within 30 days.

Data Storage Policy

Data is stored securely using AWS DynamoDB. All data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS over SSL and at rest. All data is stored in the US. The only data stored is the contact information of the user that installed the app, the slack channel ids for the channels where polls are generated by user action, and the user ids of the users that respond to polls. No other identifying user information is stored.
